Off screen, he’s a hero beloved by recovery communities and obsessed fans alike. He’s been shot, stabbed, hanged, chopped up, squished by an elevator, and once, was even melted into a bloody goo. ![]() On screen, Danny Trejo the actor is a baddie who has been killed at least a hundred times. In this “celebration of a life fully lived” (Reyna Grande, author of The Distance Between Us), discover the full, fascinating, and inspirational true story of Danny Trejo’s journey from crime, prison, addiction, and loss-it’s “enough to make you believe in the possibility of a Hollywood ending” ( The New York Times Book Review). ![]()

Holt eds., Historians of the Middle East (London, Oxford University Press, 1962), Part II, which is the result of a series of study conferences at the School of Oriental and African Studies of London University held in 1956–1958: this discusses the nature of approaches of the Western scholars towards Islamic history. He analyzed the methods and viewpoints of five outstanding scholars of Western Islamic studies, including I. Jean-Jacques Waardenburg's L'Islam dans le miroir de l'Occident, comment quelques orientalistes occidentaux se sont penchés sur l'Islam et se sont formé une image de cette religion (The Hague, Mouton & Co., 1963) is noteworthy. ![]() 5/31/2023 0 Comments Tara hudson elegy![]() Especially when Tara didn't lose focus of the story in all of it. That, my friends, is good characterization. Good guys went rogue and bad guys were more gray than black-and-white. Several characters who previously shook things up were made small while small characters were pushed into the spotlight. Jillian's metamorphasis is particularly bold., I think. I have nothing but respect for Tara for being able to convey feelings so well. The depth of Josh's emotions is so incredibly well-written. In Elegy, Josh throws his entire being into trying to save Amelia, even at his own expense. In Arise, he tries to better their situation by taking matters into his own hands, even though he's being really kind of naive about it. For instance, in Hereafter, Josh is just this sweet guy who loves his ghostly girlfriend when his world violently collides with hers. ![]() It's kind of like the stages of grief, but not. ![]() For me, one of the best aspects of the trilogy is watching the characters evolve over the course of all three books. ![]() 5/31/2023 0 Comments Cs pacat dark rise 2![]() It’s insane how he’s able to come to the right conclusions so often? And I can already tell that there is still so much we don’t know about Will, I’m so so excited to learn more about him. The calm demeanor he has, being really careful and logical with the decisions he makes + very intelligent in a quiet like manner. ![]() His character is actually super interesting. He wasn’t really interesting but then I began to like him which eventually turned to love. The moment comes whether we will it or not, and we must make ourselves ready.” The characters had so many layers to them * thinking about two characters specifically* like the moral grayness in this book was * chef’s kiss* I’m so very much in love with them. ![]() ![]() Like I predicted the plot twists but it was the type of plot twist that I was hoping would happen and am so happy it did. I love the way how the beginning made me think it was just the typical good vs. Dark Rise started off pretty slow but as I read it kept getting better and better. I can’t believe it took me this long to read one of her books especially with how much I’ve seen her name going around. Pacat book and it definitely won’t be my last. “The bright star holds, even as the darkness rises.” ![]() I really wasn’t expecting to enjoy this so much like just wow this was amazing? THE WAY IT GOT SO DARK TOWARDS THE END OMG I LOVE IT SO MUCH. ![]() 5/31/2023 0 Comments The peripheral by gibson![]() ![]() Flynne Fisher works at a local 3D printing shop and lives with her mother and her brother Burton, who sustained brain trauma from cybernetic implants he received while serving in the U.S. The novel begins sometime in the near-future in a small town in rural America. The second future is set further along in time, after a series of not-quite-cataclysmic events that have killed most of the world's population, leaving behind a monarchic class of gangsters, performance artists, and publicists in an otherwise deserted London. The first, not far off from our own present day, takes place in a Winter's Bone–ish world where the only industries still surviving are lightly evolved versions of Walmart and the meth trade. The Peripheral is an emphatic return to the science fiction he ceased to write after the turn of this century, set in not one but two futures. When Burton is hired for a security job which takes place in what he thinks is cyberspace and Flynne temporarily takes his place, she witnesses a possible murder. The novel focuses on Flynne and her brother, Burton.
